Staff

Steven Bruce, Legal Director, is licensed to practice law in California and Florida. He worked for the Social Security Administration as a Senior Staff Attorney. In 2000, he founded People With Disabilities Foundation. Steven has worked for the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Offices for Civil Rights, was a supervisor in the Government Benefits Unit for Legal Aid, and was an Assistant Public Defender. He has a B.A. in Economics and Psychology, with honors, from the University of California at Berkeley. His J.D. is from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He is a member of the California and Florida Bars; the District Courts of the Northern, Eastern and Central Districts of California and the Southern District of Florida; the Ninth Cir. Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.

April Banerjee, Executive Director, has experience as a training manager, a technical communicator, and an administrator. Her work involved energy management, including for low-income households. She has researched and written about environmental issues. She holds a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Mark Marymee, Program Director for Public Awareness and Education, has worked in public affairs, community outreach and corporate communications for large organizations and tech start-ups. He began his career as a newspaper reporter and editor, and later managed external affairs and community relations for the new Gordie Howe International Bridge between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from San Jose State University, and a Master of Professional Studies degree from the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University.
