PWDF Education Program UpdatePWDF Welcomes New Program Director for Public Awareness & EducationMark Marymee has joined PWDF as its new Program Director for Public Awareness & Education. He has worked in public affairs, community outreach and corporate communications for large organizations and start-ups. He is responsible for planning and implementation of the Foundation’s e-newsletter, live streaming seminars, events, community outreach, and expanding communications across our website, social media, and other channels. Mark’s career began as a newspaper reporter and editor in Wyoming, and he worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for The Clorox Company, Wells Fargo and Safeway. He later managed external affairs and community relations for the new Gordie Howe International Bridge between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from San Jose State University, and a Master of Professional Studies degree in Public Relations from the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University. PWDF ProfileWho We ArePeople With Disabilities Foundation is an operating 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, California, which focuses on the rights of the mentally and developmentally disabled. ServicesAdvocacy: PWDF advocates for Social Security claimant’s disability benefits in eight Bay Area counties. We also provide services in disability rights, on issues regarding returning to work, and in ADA consultations, including areas of employment, health care, and education, among others. There is representation before all levels of federal court and Administrative Law Judges. No one is declined due to their inability to pay, and we offer a sliding scale for attorney’s fees. Education/Public Awareness: To help eliminate the stigma against people with mental disabilities in society, PWDF’s educational program organizes workshops and public seminars, provides guest speakers with backgrounds in mental health, and produces educational materials such as videos. Continuing Education Provider: State Bar of California MCLE and Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. |
